Suji Thomas RN, MSN, MBA-HCM
Chief Executive Officer
Suji Thomas RN, MSN, MBA-HCM is a nurse leader with more than 23 years of experience in various facets of the nursing profession. Thomas, with her team, has attained outstanding HCAHPS results and quality outcomes in her previous positions held. She and her work has been acknowledged as a model of innovative nursing practice. Her transformational leadership is effective in creating and improving practices that enhance the healthcare experience for patients as well as employees. She is zealous about spreading the knowledge that she receives through her involvement in local and national organizations, including The New Jersey Committee of Magnet Organizations (NJCOMO) and The Organization of Nurse Executives (ONE) where she is an active member and serves on the Mentorship Subcommittee. Thomas received her master’s degree in nursing (MSN) and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) in Healthcare Management from University of Phoenix.
Todd Cooperman, M.D., FAAPMR
Dr. Cooperman is a graduate of the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at The City College of New York and The State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed his internship at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut, an affiliate of the Yale University School of Medicine and New York Medical College, and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. He has been the medical director of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls since 2005. He is also the section chief of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Monmouth Medical Center and is a clinical assistant professor of medicine in the Department of Medicine, Drexel University College of Medicine. He received the 2007 HealthSouth Medical Leadership award and the 2011 HealthSouth Medical Director of the Year Award. He has been selected as a 2012 New Jersey Monthly
Jersey Choice Top Doctor.
Todd Cooperman, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.
Edgardo Baerga, M.D.
Medical Staff President
Dr. Baerga is a board certified physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist. He completed his specialty training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson/JFK-Johnson Rehabilitation Institute and his medical acupuncture training in New York Medical College School of Medicine in Valhalla, New York. Dr. Baerga joined the medical staff at The Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls in 2002 and maintains an active inpatient, outpatient and consultation practice in Monmouth County. He is co-author of the Stroke Rehabilitation, Traumatic Brain Injury, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Spasticity and Movement Disorders chapters in the textbook Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Board Review (Demos Medical Publishing, 2004). In addition to his role at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls, he serves as the CEO and medical co-director at Mid Atlantic Rehabilitation Consultants, LLC.

Sarina Brady, MA, OTR/L
Director of Therapy Operations
Sarina oversees our on-site inpatient and outpatient therapy services as well as the rehabilitation services at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ. Sarina received her Master of Arts in occupational therapy from New York University and her Bachelor of Science in biology from Villanova University. Sarina joins HealthSouth from the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, following 13 years in the inpatient rehabilitation setting, where she most recently served as clinical manager of the brain injury unit. In addition to extensive continuing education, Sarina has presented at local, regional, and national forums on topics such as traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury, medication management, cognitive rehabilitation, evaluation and treatment of visual impairments, burns, caregiver training and community reintegration. She has been published on the treatment of burns in Advance for OT. Sarina holds a specialty certification in administration of the A-ONE (Arnadottir OT-ADL Neurobehavioral Evaluation).
Tony Evaristo, BS, CRT
Program Director - Cardiac and Pulmonary
Bringing more than 20 years of healthcare management experience, Tony joined HealthSouth in 2007 as the director of respiratory department. In 2009, he accepted the position as program manager for the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. Tony has a bachelor’s degree in management science from Kean University and received his certification in respiratory therapy in 1978.
Cheryl Halpin MPH, RN, CMAC
Director of Case Management
Cheryl joined HealthSouth in July 2013 with more than 30 years of experience in acute care discharge planning and case management. Throughout her career she has held various clinical and management positions, most recently director of case management and social services at Raritan Bay Medical Center. She holds a master’s degree in public health administration from the University of Medicine and Dentistry and received Certification in Case Management Administration in 2011. Cheryl is a member of both the national and New Jersey Chapters of the Case Management Society of America, as well as the American Case Management Association. She is committed to improving transitions of care for our patients and has fostered excellent working relationships with the acute care hospitals, post acute facilities, the VNA and many other community organizations.
Director of Marketing Operations
Doug has extensive business development experience where he has most recently served as regional director of sales and marketing for Preferred Care Partners Management Group. In addition, he secured Accountable Care Organization preferred provider status for multiple skilled nursing facilities. Doug’s healthcare experience covers a broad spectrum including ambulance services, independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing facilities. He received his Bachelor of Science in business administration from Monmouth University and is a Mesa, AZ leadership graduate.
Lynne joined HealthSouth more than 21 years ago and served in various full-time roles at HealthSouth Toms River while completing a college degree. She became the controller at The Rehabilitation Hospital of Tinton Falls in 2003. Lynne takes great pride in working for a leader in inpatient rehabilitative care.
